Review:
Tim Burton is probably one of the best option for running a Dark Shadows movie. He's always good to make a dark, gothic movie and expect everyone to be something like Sweeney Todd and Sleepy Hollow. Instead, it has a hybrid Corpse Bride and Beetlejuice. Starting with gloom decent but the rest is littered with fun soundtrack and color images. But this may not be a problem. Its actually pretty good in the 70s retake. The main problem is the plot development. Fun, but also disappointing.It looked promising at first. Tim Burton uses achievement campy style that makes interesting intro. Get silly when he Barnabas from his grave. Exploring the changes in her town. Its quite funny and enjoyable. Theres good in character development that makes it fun. Johnny Depp gives a delightful performance as Barnabas Collins. Eva Green as Angelique quite threatening. Jackie Earle Haley and Helena Bonham Carter is an additional comic relief. Chlo? Moretz is always fun roles.Theres bad girl gone good, but in the end, the experience feels like somethings missing. This might be an interesting story but the ending was very lazy. There are a few twists that are not consistent unreasonable. At least there is something good in filmmaking. Production design is quite decent and sometimes colorful as possible. Postmodern music is often played Danny Elfman musical score is hard to see. But they could not fix the shadows benefits denied Film storytelling.Dark fun and nothing else. There are things that could be better. I do not think the display of colorful fun problem. It just needs a better end to give consistency to the story. People can still try to his camp. Theres nothing here that real vampires like our modern vampires. Dark Shadows is not bad.
